Privacy Policy

Thathpara Ahoratra (“we”, “us”) runs thathparaahoratra.com and the Thathpara Ahoratra social channels. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It is written to meet India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and we extend the same respect to visitors from everywhere.

What we collect

We collect only what you choose to give us, and a little technical data needed to run the site:

• Newsletter — your email address.
• Ask Thathpara — your name, your question and topic, and optionally your phone and email. For a Jyotiṣa question, your date, time and place of birth.
• Consultation requests — your name, contact details, what you seek guidance on, and birth details where a reading needs them.
• Camp, travel and other interest forms — your name, contact details and message.
• Testimonials / sharing your experience — what you write and the name you want shown.
• Technical data — anonymous, aggregated usage analytics; error reports; and your IP address, which our hosting uses briefly for security and to prevent spam and abuse.

How we use it

To answer your questions, arrange and prepare consultations, send updates you have asked for, show testimonials you have approved, keep the site secure, and improve it. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we share it only as described below.

Ask Thathpara & our social media Stories

Each week we choose some of the questions we receive and answer them in our Ask Thathpara sessions. As of now these sessions are shared as Stories on our social media (Instagram @thathpara_ and Facebook) — they are not uploaded to this website. When your question is chosen, we may show your question and your first name only. We never show your phone number, email address, or birth details. If you would rather your question stay private, say so in your question, or write to us at thathparaahoratra@gmail.com and we will not feature it — or will remove it if it has already been shared.

Stories on Instagram and Facebook are hosted by Meta and are subject to Meta’s own privacy policy. Stories are normally visible for 24 hours unless we save them to a highlight.

Birth & personal details

Birth details you share for a Jyotiṣa question or reading are used only to prepare that answer or reading. They are treated as private — never published, never shared, and never sold.

Consent

We process your data on the basis of your consent, given when you submit a form, and for legitimate uses such as keeping the site secure. You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to thathparaahoratra@gmail.com; withdrawing does not affect anything done before you withdrew.

Who else is involved

A few trusted services help us run the site. Each receives only what it needs to do its job:

• Cloudflare — hosting, secure delivery, our database and file storage, and cookieless visit measurement.
• Google Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (see our Cookie Policy).
• Sentry — error monitoring so we can fix faults; configured to exclude personal data.
• YouTube — our films are embedded from YouTube, which applies its own policy when you play one.
• Meta (Instagram, Facebook) and WhatsApp — where our Stories appear, and if you choose to message us there.
• Email — our inbox, used to reply to you.

Some of these providers may store data on servers outside India. We use reputable providers with strong security practices, and we will disclose data to authorities only where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep questions, consultation requests and form messages only as long as needed to serve you, and for no more than 24 months after our last contact with you unless the law requires longer. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. We delete your details sooner whenever you ask. Anonymous analytics are retained in aggregate.

How we protect it

Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), is stored with our hosting provider, and can be reached only through a password-protected admin area. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care and will notify you and the authorities as the law requires if a breach affects your data.

Your rights

You may, at any time:

• ask what personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
• ask us to correct, complete or update it;
• ask us to erase it, or to take down a question featured in our Stories;
• withdraw your consent, or unsubscribe from emails using the link in every email;
• nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf; and
• raise a grievance with us, and if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

This site shares educational material and is not directed at children. If you are under 18, please use our forms only with a parent’s or guardian’s consent. If we learn we have collected a child’s details without that consent, we will delete them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The “Last updated” date above always shows the current version; significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
